Dead Space 2’s score literally has the word “Dead” in it

A sad fact about videogame soundtracks is that, unlike their movie counterparts, they are often under-appreciated.  It’s a shame because they take just as much skill and craftsmanship to compose and they’re perhaps more integral to the whole experience than that of a film score.

Due to the interactivity of videogames, it requires a unique skill to craft a soundscape that adapts to the players’ agency.  One such composer that has this skill in spades is Jason Graves.

Frank Sinatra was the original John McClane

Whether or not you consider Die Hard to be a Christmas film (it is, by the way), one thing we can all agree on is that it’s a fucking good movie.  A large part of that is thanks to Bruce Willis’ portrayal of NYPD detective John McClane.  Before this, action heroes were often great, hulking men that looked as though they were carved out of granite, lumbering about the place dispatching hordes of bad guys and gleefully spouting one liners, usually with a thick Austrian accent.

Why you should play The Elder Scrolls Online

Bethesda finally released their much-anticipated massively multiplayer online role-playing game (crikey that’s a mouthful!), The Elder Scrolls Online, back in 2014.  Unfortunately it wasn’t exactly well-received, with many people criticising everything from the needlessly greedy business model to the overall performance of the game.

Thankfully, after many patches and a bevy of additional content, TESO is now the game it promised to be, but is it too late?
